Bundoran Bord na nOg Club Call - 2007

March 26th 2007

The u-12s kicked off their league campaign on Saturday last with a win y the narrowest of margins against Naomh Conall in Gaelic Park. Missing nearly half of their first choice line-up, t was a brave performance by a very young team that saw them edge a 5-7 to 3-12 win. Their next outing in the Aerfort Dún na nGall First Division is in two weeks as they are free this weekend. The under-16s continued their unbeaten start to their league campaign with a hard fought six point win over Four Masters in Donegal town last Sunday morning. A Stephen Reilly goal, against the run of play, saw Bundoran turn over with a two point half-time lead and greater accuracy in front of the posts saw them post a 1-8 to 0-5 win against a spirited Four Masters. The next fixture for Bundoran u-16s in the Donegal Adventure Centre league is at home this Sunday to Naomh Conall. Throw-in s currently scheduled for 12.00 but it is expected that this will move back to 12.30.

The under-16s start their league campaign against Naomh Naille tomorrow evening, Friday March 16th, at 5.30 in Gaelic Park Bundoran. The u16 management team would like to express their thanks to neighbours Aodh Ruadh who made Munday’s Field available at short notice last Monday for a friendly against Killybegs. Fixture booklets for underage football for the coming season were published earlier this week and any Bundoran managers or referees seeking a booklet should contact minor board Chairperson, John Croghan.

There are still a number of players training with underage squads who have not yet paid their registration monies and managers are asked to get these young boys and girls registered as soon as possible. A Child Awareness course/workshop will be held Monday March 29th in the Naomh Naille club rooms in Mountcharles at 7.30. All underage managers and mentors, as well as all referees are obliged to have undertaken this course and those that haven’t should give their names to Club Secretary, Geraldine Walsh.

The Club will be taking part in Bundoran’s St Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday. Any children wishing to march behind the banner should be at the Marlboro’ House carpark between 3.00 and 3.15. There will be the usual ball-games for the under-8 squad this Tuesday March 20th in St Patrick’s Hall at 3.00.

The Bord na nOg AGM was held last week in the Holyrood Hotel. At a well-attended meeting, almost all official and managerial positions were filled and recommendations made to the Senior Board. Two of these positions were ratified at the Senior Club AGM and congratulations to John Croghan – the new chairman of Bord na nÓg, - and to Joan McEniff who was ratified as Treasurer (and Assistant Treasurer to the Senior Board). At the Senior AGM, John McEniff also agreed to remain on as Bord na nÓg PRO. Appointments to the other positions and of managers of underage teams will be ratified by Senior Executive within the next two weeks. Finally, thanks to Diarmuid Doherty who stepped down as chairman after three very productive years in the chair that seen among other things the numbers of both boys and girls playing underage football increase, the introduction of new teams at u-8 (boys and girls) and u-16 (girls) levels and the winning of 15 divisional and six county trophies.
